2026: The year of ‘new neutrals’

Around the end of the summer / start of autumn, major paint, print and interiors companies release their key colour/s for the coming year. And every year, journalists try to find a theme for these picks and predictions.
Sometimes, grouping most of the colours into a rough category is a bit of a stretch and there are always outliers. For 2025 it was Valspar’s ultramarine, and the year before it was Etsy’s berry. So let’s take a look at the ‘new neutrals’ palette for 2026…and see who’s going rogue!
