This year, the overwhelming sentiment is that everyone’s a bit fed up with modern life and wants to get back to basics. There’s a yearning for authenticity and for our home to be a grounding cocoon, where we can craft, rest, reflect and take pleasure in the simple things.

Far from being gloomy and introverted, the vibe is very much about becoming lighter. ‘Bright’, ‘alive’, ‘uplifting’, ‘elegant’ and ‘welcoming’ are the words repeatedly being used to describe the colours trending for 2027, chosen by the world’s leading paint companies and colour experts.

It’s all about getting back to nature and engaging the senses; closing the door on the noise and weight of the modern world and relaxing into a space that nurtures the soul.

Unsurprisingly, hues of green lead the field, with dusky, earthy pink tones not far behind. Grey-blues and browns make up the rest of the selection announced so far.

GREENS

Dulux

“Green is a healing, mood-boosting colour – just what’s needed in our homes today. Around the world, people are feeling weighed down by modern life and looking for a little light relief, and soft natural greens can make your heart glow, your soul shine and your spirits soar!

Light, soft and silvery, Soulful Sage™ is a shade that can elevate a room in countless different ways bringing in radiance, elegance and delight.”

Used it on its own, Soulful Sage can create an elegant and versatile backdrop for any interior style – Scandinavian, Japandi, or Nordic, for example. Combined with the shades in Dulux new colour stories – Glow, Light and Lift - it offers limitless potential for creating a living room look you’ll love.

Benjamin Moore

“Green has always been part of the conversation, long maintaining a steadfast presence in both interior design and global trends, bending and adapting to the zeitgeist of the time. For 2027, we wanted to pick a green that felt fresh and right for today, not a shade that reminisces.

Webster Green HC-130 beautifully balances the stability of blue and the warmth of yellow, adding a splash of color while still maintaining composure. Abuzz with energy, it breathes personality into a design and lends a quiet elegance to any space.”

Sherwin-Williams

“Clarity and comfort unite in our 2027 Color of the Year, an airy, herbal green that embodies fresh perspectives and elegance.

Celery feels like a quiet reset for the home. Its soft presence creates spaces that feel welcoming and thoughtfully lived in – setting a balanced tone that brings calm and comfort to everyday life.”

Behr

“Our 2027 Color of the Year reflects a shift in how people want their homes to feel – rooted, lived-in, and real. It transcends aesthetics, creating spaces that invite a true sense of ease and retreat.

Grounded echoes nature’s layered complexity, moving through shades of moss, olive, and earth while feeling quietly alive. Its dimensional quality evolves throughout the day, anchoring bright living spaces and creating a cocoon-like feel in rooms designed for rest and reflection.”

C2 Paint

“After several years of seeking calm, comfort and retreat, we’re seeing a desire to re-engage with the things that make us feel alive…to notice the light, work with our hands, grow and gather, make, cook, create and surround ourselves with materials that engage the senses.

The color itself behaves almost like something living in the landscape. It changes with its environment. In daylight, you see those surprising rosy, plum notes. As the light disappears, it becomes darker and more earthen.”

Rural Renaissance represents a way of being closer to the source of things: closer to the land, the seasons, food, materials, making and the sensory experiences that modern life can distance us from.

Graham & Brown

“Rose Earth draws on natural mineral pigments from Italian clay, reflecting the timeless depth and reliability of earthy tones, thoughtfully reimagined for today's homes."

BLUES

Valspar

“A cultural shift toward intentional living and self-reflection calls for authentic and heartfelt hues. Cottage Door answers with a versatile, trans-seasonal color to inspire thoughtful and introspective spaces.

“Mid-tone blue-grays are being used to create spaces that feel both timeless and deeply personal – whether paired with joyful hues for contrast or layered with natural textures for a more organic feel.”

Coordinating colours

“Together, these subtle expressions of color deliver a gentle, uplifting spirit. Their soft, joyful tones infuse any space with warmth, optimism and comfort.”

Glidden

“A calm, fresh aqua that feels like a reset for your whole space. Although Artifact has a bit of warmth, it can feel and function like a neutral color, creating a grounded backdrop while adding depth and a sense of freshness.”
